IIFA Utsavam 2016 Awards Winners List | Winners Of IIFA Utsavam 2016


The first edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Utsavam awards function began at Gachibowli in Hyderabad on Sunday morning, and the who's who of the South Indian film industry are attending this colourful event. IFA UTSAVAM kicked off to a bright start on Sunday at The Park Hyatt in Hyderabad. Many celebrities from the south film industries attended the event to talk about IIFA UTSAVAM and how they are happy that IIFA is finally recognising the south film industries.

On 24 January, IIFA Utsavam will see IIFA partnering with FICCI for the FICCI-IIFA Business Forum. Film personalities, policy-makers and industry leaders will discuss Cinema-tourism, infrastructure, media, cinema co-productions and investment opportunities. Later in the evening, talents from the Tamil and Malayalam film industries will be felicitated.


The proceeds from the IIFA UTSAVAM will go towards relief and rehabilitation of those affected in the Chennai floods. Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty said, "We've been a part of IIFA for 20 years. The reason why South Indian cinema needs to be celebrated is that 40% of Indian cinema is from the south. The highest number of National Award winners like directors, singers, etc, are from the south. So why not celebrate South Indian cinema?

The press conference for IIFA Utsavam began at 11 am today. Taapsee Pannu, Shriya Saran, Nikitha, Navdeep, Mamta Mohandas, Nassar, Director Venkat Prabhu, Resul Pookutty, Devi Sri Prasad and a host of others were present on the occasion.The conference started with a beautiful Kuchipudi performance by Deepika Reddy and her troupe.

John Abraham  first release of 2016 will be Rocky Handsome and official trailer is released. Shruti Haasan is the female lead and both John & Shruthi already gave a hit last year with ‘Welcome Back’. Rocky Handsome has been directed by Nishikant Kamat and move is co-produced by John Abraham under his home banner John Abraham Entertainment.

Based on the official trailer we can assume that the Rocky Handsome is about a man who sets out to take vengeance against drug mafia after they take away an eight-year-old girl, with whom he shares a special bond. Rocky Handsome releases in theaters on 25 March 2016.

Hollywood film ‘Suicide Squad‘ based on the antihero comics by DC released the official trailer. ‘Suicide Squad’ features Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and a few others in important roles.

Asin Thottumkal who got engaged with Micromax founder Rahul Sharma last year got married at a private ceremony in Delhi on Tuesday. Wedding as per Christian rituals at the Dusit Devarana hotel.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, the man responsible for getting the two together, was the best man at the wedding ceremony, which was only attended by close family members and friends.

Asin made her debut in the South Indian film industry with Ghanji directed by AR Murgadoss and later when on to make her Bollywood debut in the all-time blockbuster ‘Ghajini’ against Aamir Khan. 21st annual Critics' Choice Awards  2016 held on 17th January 2016  and "Silicon Valley's" T.J. Miller hosted it . First time the annual awards show combined film and TV winners into one event.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association, presented the awards and it broadcast live on A&E, Lifetime and LMN.

Padma Awards, the country’s highest civilian awards, are conferred in three categories, namely, PadmaVibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

 Padma Awards will in the category of Foreigners, NRIs, PIOs and Posthumousawardees. The  Awards are given in various disciplines/ fields of activities, viz- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.

 ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service

‘Padma Bhushan’ for distinguished service of high order

‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in any field.

The awards will be announced on Republic Day every year. The awards are conferred by the
President of India at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhawan around March/ April.

Sethupathis directed by SU Arunkumar of 'Pannaiyarum Padminiyum' fame, has Vijay Sethupathi, Remya Nambeesan and Vela Ramamoorthy in the lead roles. 

Vijay Sethupathi playing the role of a cop and the movie is produced by Shan Sutharsan, CEO of Vansan Movie has and has music by Nivas K Prasanna.
